The Yachana Project
The Yachana Project documents and promotes the Yachana Colegio Técnico (Technical High School) in Mondaña, Ecuador. The Colegio accepts indigenous students from Amazonian farming families to learn regionally employable skills, sustainable agriculture, rainforest conservation, and eco-tourism. Yachan strives to provide an important and meaningful education to regional students, as only 5 percent of Amazonian children finish high school.
Coupled with local scenery, students and teachers voice and showcase the enthusiasm and importance of the school. Students particularly enjoy participating in the Yachana Ecolodge where they are able to practice their English, learn cooking skills, and interact with visitors from around the world.
